The Nature of Craft and the Penland Experience

The exhibition illustrates the evolution of craft and object making in America and the unique role of North Carolina’s Penland School of Crafts in the development of craft education during the past 75 years.
Approximately 130 objects will illustrate the creative process through Source (serendipity, spirituality, landscape, body), Skill (traditions & competence), and Culture (ethnicity, gender, age.)
Co-organized by the Mint Museum of Craft + Design & Penland.
